Sunflower Rustic Style Quilt Magazine Bag

Sunflower Rustic Tote Bag- Hand Quilted Blog - Quilt Blocks Color Embroidery Quilting is a relatively new process for me since many people know I started out drawing and painting. I only started quilting in 2020. As I moved on through different mediums I picked up and dropped a few, quilting is something I have come to genuinely enjoy and I started learning during the pandemic. My great grandmother had a Singer sewing machine with the hand crank when I was very little, she was able to show me how to use it but we don't have it anymore unfortunately. Someday I hope to get a hand crank machine refurbished to hold onto properly. The type of quilting I specifically enjoy is called English Paper Piecing. It’s done by hand and is perfect for embellishing with embroidery or other fun things.  There are a handful of questions I get asked repetitively about sewing, using machines and making quilts. I will touch on the most frequently asked questions and how I plan a fabric project. I also

AAH - Art Sketch Books That I Have Used 11/20/21  Currently I am using a sketch book called the Artist Line sketch book. This can be purchased from Dollar Tree though sometimes it is out of stock. Apparently this is a popular item because recently I have not been able to buy one near me. I found some in stock at a Dollar Tree about an hour away though so I purchased more stock. I still have 3 books that have not been touched and my dog destroyed two lol.  So far I have completed about 7 journals considering my dogs destroyed two. I really like these books mainly because they are small and easy to carry around. There are only 50 pages they are hot pressed and are best used with pencil or ball point pen. Considering almost all of my sketches are done in pencil or pen these are the best bang for my buck. There is another line of sketch pads that Dollar Tree offers and I have tried most of them. So far these are my favorite but I will show off the other drawing pads later because I
OOAK Custom MH: Demon Hunter Frankie View this post on Instagram A post shared by glitter_witch_crafts (@gwc_customz) GWC - Custom Frankie Stein MH The story:  I wanted to make a custom doll design based on a drawing I found on Pinterest. If you want to see my inspiration boards please click here for my Pinterest account .  The Process:  I began this project with designing sketches in my notebook. I keep very small and quick drawings. I do this to work out the direction that my building strategies will take. Building the parts of the custom is the fun (IMO) and the most difficult part. Some people focus on face and hair but my intent with creating custom dolls is to make a figurine that matches my taste and interests.  Outcome : I think this build is one of the best I have ever done. The concept from start to finish went fluidly and I did not run into any problems. When I am developing a design I choose to make a project outline a

Customz - Pastel MLP

GWC Customz  - Pastel MLP (Feb 2020) View this post on Instagram A post shared by glitter_witch_crafts (@gwc_customz) The story: I bought a customizable MLP ( My Little Pony ) Figurine. It was affordable and had an interesting design. The Process: I painted it with a series of pastel colors, I made sure to blend them together in layers. Layering paints is the best method for making gradients or Ombre` effects IMO. After I was happy with the gradients I went in with special effects paints and coated the points of interest with glitter and matte sparkles.  Outcome : I was really happy with how this project came out most of my time was spent blending and building up color payoff. I do use craft paints and student grade acrylics which can be very transparent at times. Using a translucent paint does mean that painting a project can take a longer time than using heavy body paints that are thinned out. For me I am used to the process of mixing the thinned paint and I

Changing Everything to GWC

AAH - GWC 12/30/20 ( My cat among my clutter collectables) 2020 has taken most of everyone's patience. My patience has been taxed as well. I no longer have the enthusiasm to create work for sale and that being said I would rather focus on creating work I personally enjoy. I have come up with a list of goals for the next few years. I do not make New Year resolutions however it has occurred to me that goals are very important and without goals there is very little to want for in life as life is very short.  Here is my list - we will see how well I can keep it. Write a Story Make a Game Figure out how to use World Anvil Design character items and props Design characters design a world for the characters Use more stickers Paint/ draw more I dont know if this is too much or too little but right now this is enough. I wonder what everyone else is doing and planning this year coming up.  e

Project Share: Pink Carousel Clouds

AAH - Carousel Clouds Brooch 1/28/20 -Accessories/Jewelry/Lolita/Pastel Introducing my latest creations.  My plaster castings follow the same process for each piece. First I prep my plaster. I use DAP brand Plaster of Paris which is basic and not expensive, you mix it with water to activate. Once mixed I pour into hard plastic molds. There are flexible molds for plaster but usually the less flexible molds assist in the curing of the plaster for an even structure through out the cast.  Making plaster castings is hit or miss. Most of them suffer some sort of damage when taking the casts out of the mold. Damages range from cracks and fissures to straight up broken fragments. Dealing with these issues is part of the process and can become a learning experience so it is best to take on these tasks with enthusiasm. Building experience with the medium will make creating these items more enjoyable and less frustrating over time.  e

Why You Should Use Model Magic Air Dry Clay

AAH - How I use Model Magic. 10/11/19 - Selling Art/Making Art/Creative Process/How to Over the years a common review of my videos brings up the material I love the most. Model Magic is a modeling clay So many people over the years have asked questions about using this clay that I have come up with some popular questions and answers.  Q: What is Model Magic? Glancing at this packing you might think this will too child oriented for any practical use and to a degree this is correct. Using the clay straight from the package leads to major problems such as uneven texture and drying or worse cracking.  Q. How do I fix texture and cracking? To remedy this I use a spritzer bottle filled with water to spray my clay as I am sculpting to keep it hydrated. I will also keep some in a plastic zip-lock bag and spray water in when it begins to dry. By controlling the hydration of the clay it allows for the clay to dry evenly and when it has fully dried (about 4 days on av
